Christopher J. Ferris, 80, formerly of East Hanover, NJ, passed away in Ann Arbor, MI on July 9, 2025.
Chris grew up in East Hanover New Jersey and graduated from Hanover Park High School in 1962. He pursued his engineering degree at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) formally known as Newark College of Engineering (NCE). After graduating from college, he held various government engineering positions at Fort Monmouth and Picatinny Arsenal, where he played a pivotal role in numerous Department of Defense projects. Chris later went to work for Weston Corporation and had the privilege of designing the gages for the Space Shuttle. He then became an independent consultant working on numerous technology projects through the rest of his career.
Beyond his professional achievements, Chris was a cherished uncle, loved by all his nieces and nephews. He found immense joy in spending time with them, frequently babysitting them, and offering support whenever possible. As a devoted son, he took care of his mother into her twilight years.
In 2004, Chris and his mother relocated to Michigan to be closer to his brother. Throughout his life, Chris was a true animal lover, and cared for many dogs. Remarkably, all the pets he encountered seemed to be drawn to his compassionate touch.
Chris was an incredible brother, uncle, and friend and he will be deeply missed.
Devoted brother of Carol Sannitti and Robert Ferris (Barbara). Loving uncle of Michael (Ashley) and Paul Sannitti, Justin (Kristi), Daniel, Keith (Maggie), Ciara and Keirsten Ferris. Brother-in-law of Philip Sannitti.
