Charles S. Hammed, “Chuckie”, 77, of East Hanover, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Danbury, CT to Anthony and May Hammed he was the middle child of three sons. He grew up in Newark, NJ playing every sport he could find a ball for. Chuckie always had a hardworking, on the go demeanor. From his first job at just 13 years old he worked his entire life to always take care of and provide for the people he loved most, his family. He graduated from Bloomfield Technical School and worked his way through the construction and trucking industry until he was able to buy his very first dump truck that started C&A Trucking over 48 years ago. That one truck grew into 15 and helped him create his company he was so proud of for almost 50 years of business. He moved his family to East Hanover in 1997 where he currently resided until his passing. He loved being at the beach and vacationing to his shore house in Seaside Park on weekends in the summer. He loved his family fiercely, and spent any time he was not working with his children and grandchildren. He had a larger than life personality and a heart filled with love and generosity for anyone that came into his life. He will be so very missed.
Beloved husband of Margaret Hammed. Devoted father of Alexsia Gailliot, her husband Philip, Cash Hammed, Alyssa Bouck, her husband Thomas, and the late Allasandra Hammed. Cherished grandfather of Antonia and Giovanna Gailliot, Jax and Juliana Collins, Luciano and Carmela Hammed. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
