Charles Edward Byrne

Charles “Charlie” “Ched” Byrne, 44, passed away on August 2, 2021.

Devoted husband to the love of his life Stephanie for 16 years.  Devoted father of his twins Tommy and Jess (14)  and James (9).  Loving son of Judith Moore Byrne and the late Sarsfield “Sars” Byrne.  Dear son-in-law of Joe & Joyce Marotta.  Charlie was co-owner of Alite Flooring with his longtime friend Michael Malgieri.    

Charlie and Stephanie first met in 7th grade. Charlie’s life was about being with Stephanie and their kids. An excellent athlete, he encouraged his children to participate in sports, and that they did.  Tommy, Jess and James all excel in multiple sports. Charlie attended as many of their games as possible often driving from one field and town to another to catch a second or third game of the day. Even as he was battling his illness, he continued to get to games.

Charlie was truly an amazing husband, dad and family man. He was outgoing, friendly, charming , extremely generous and fiercely loyal to his family and his many friends. But those that knew him well will tell you about his strength and toughness.  This was never more evident than during his 29 month battle with cancer.  He persevered against incredible odds. His spirit, his kindness, his smile will live with us forever. Tommy, Jess and James will always have a part of their dad in their hearts and live by his example as they go through life. Stephanie will forever know and feel in her heart the deep love they had for each other and that knowledge will carry her forward.

Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Sunday from 2-7pm.  Due to the overwhelming expected attendees and covid concerns, visitors are asks to kindly pay their respects and then immediately exit, in order for the family to be able to see all their visitors in a timely manner.  The family appreciates all your support and understanding, and thanks you for following guidelines.   

The funeral mass will be held on Monday at Holy Family Church in Florham Park at 11am, followed by the Entombment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.  Please note, due to the large anticipated attendees, the church will be offering the funeral mass virtually by visiting https://holyfamilyfp.org/.
