Catherine (Pilla) Parlavecchio, 93, of Florham Park, passed away peacefully at her home on February 24, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Devoted mother of Joseph C. Parlavecchio, his wife Alyson, Gerald J. Guarino, his wife JoEllen, Joseph A. Guarino and his wife Kelly. Catherine was also survived by 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Catherine was pre-deceased by her husband Tino Parlavecchio, her stepdaughter Alice Parlavecchio, her stepson Ludwig Parlavecchio, her parents Gieuslell and Mary Pilla, and was the last surviving of 4 siblings.
Caterine was born and raised in Newark NJ, she attended Rutgers University (Newark Campus) obtaining a master's degree in education and was a teacher in the Newark School System at Lafyette Street School for over 40 years.
She and her family have resided in Morris County the majority of her adult life, with the last 20 years in Florham Park.
Catherine was a parishioner at Holy Family Church and the local Bible Study Group as well as supporting the church in various capacities and may church sponsored religiose trips to Europe.
The funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Church in Florham Park on Saturday, February 28th at 10:30am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Catherine’s name to The National Shrine of St. Gerard at St. Lucy’s Church, 118 Seventh Avenue (Ruggiero Plaza), Newark, NJ 07104.
