Carolyn “Marie” Scrivo, 94, of W. Caldwell and Toms River, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Marie graduated Bloomfield High School (1951). Marie met Bruno Scrivo on a trolley car on Bloomfield Avenue on June 20, 1948. They married on October 3, 1953, and started a family resulting in four sons, four daughters-in-laws, eleven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren during her lifetime. Marie’s central mission in life was to support and take care of her family, which she did flawlessly. Marie was known for her incredible cooking and spotless homes. She was always well-dressed and dignified. Marie’s most cherished possession was her family. Indeed, her happiest times were when she was surrounded by her family and friends, particularly at the family’s summer home in Toms River, where they hosted countless gatherings.
Devoted mother of Peter Scrivo, his wife Linda, Steven Scrivo, his wife Florence, Thomas Scrivo, his wife Susan, Robert Scrivo, and his wife Marlene. Cherished grandmother of Lauren (her husband Spencer), Steven, T.J. (his wife Crystal), James (his wife Rosa), Alexandra (her husband Michael), Griffin, Faith, Haley, Annaliese, Robert Jr., and Amelia. Proud great-grandmother of Mia, Florence, Teresa, James, Layla, Michael, Tripp, and Liam.
Marie was pre-deceased by her husband Bruno F. Scrivo of 66 plus years, and her brother Charles Lorenzo.
The funeral mass will be held on Friday, July 24th, 11:00 a.m. at St. Philomena Roman Catholic Church in Livingston, followed by the entombment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carolyn’s name to Muscular Dystrophy Association or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
