Carmine Marcantonio Obituary

Carmine Marcantonio, 81, of Cedar Knolls, formerly of Maplewood, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2024.

Carmine grew up in Newark, NJ where he lived with his parents and 14 siblings. At a young age he had a keen sense of business, shining shoes, washing cars and performing odd jobs just to make a few coins for an ice cream or a Saturday matinee at the movies.

He later married "the love of his life" Marylyn and moved to Maplewood, NJ, where they had 2 boys Patrick and Matthew.

In 1968 he opened his own business Carmine's Landscaping Inc where he successfully established and worked until 2015.

He loved being with his family, traveling, out to dinner and summers on Ortley Beach.  He had a passion for food and enjoyed Friday night's out to dinner with his dear brother Dom and sister-in-law Shirley.

Being at the beach was one of his greatest passions. He knew when he was at his beach home there was always family there that were dear to his heart. He enjoyed sitting on the deck with a cocktail, listening to music on his transistor radio and having a good laugh.

He was always the life of the party, getting up a singing at weddings, dancing up a storm and having family gatherings.

His greatest joys in life were his 2 grandsons Joseph and Brayden, they were the "apple of his eye"

Beloved husband of 55 years to Marylyn (D’Onofrio) Marcantonio.  Devoted father of Patrick Marcantonio, his wife Nicole, Matthew Marcantonio and his wife Farida.  Cherished grandfather of Joseph and Brayden.  Dear brother of Prosper, Antoinette, Dominick, Carmela and Luisa.  Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Carmine was pre-deceased by his parents Jospeh and Jennie, his sisters Mary, Madeline and Theresa, and his brothers Thomas, Louis, Patsy, Joseph, Johnny and Nicholas.
