Carmen M. Yannuzzi, Sr., 95, of East Hanover and a member of the Greatest Generation, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 11, 1928, during the Great Depression, Carmen's life was a testament to resilience, service, and love.
At a young age, Carmen exemplified his patriotism by joining the US Navy during World War II. He bravely served his country, embodying the spirit of duty and sacrifice. Following the war, Carmen continued his service, joining the US Marine Corps during the Korean War at the age of 25, even as a newly married man.
After his military service, Carmen worked in family business as owner-operator of Yannuzzi & Sons Trucking, before going on his own with CM Yannuzzi Trucking. His dedication and hard work were evident in every aspect of his life.
Carmen was married for 72 years to his beloved wife, Victoria, who predeceased him. Their enduring love and partnership were an inspiration to all who knew them. Carmen was a devoted father to Carmen, Frank, and James, and a cherished parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church.
An active member of the community, Carmen was a life member of The Knights of Columbus, where he found camaraderie and purpose. In his leisure time, he found solace in his woodworking shop, where he crafted beautiful birdhouses, toy trucks, rocking horses, and his famous "JESUS" signs. Carmen's hands were always busy, whether he was helping friends and family with projects or fixing whatever needed repair.
Above all else, Carmen treasured his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy, and he reveled in every moment spent with them. Though he dearly missed his beloved Victoria every day since her passing, Carmen's love for her endured, a testament to the depth of their bond.
