Carmela Pelaggi (Del Mauro), 93, of Livingston, passed away peacefully at her home on November 26, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
A devoted Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Aunt, Nonna, Great Nonna and Friend, who loved her family wholeheartedly. Carmela, Ma, Nonna or Aunt Carmela, whatever you called her, she would try to advise and help you with anything you needed. Her devotion to Jehovah God was undeniable. She studied the bible daily and lived life to one day be accepted into the Kingdom, which she truly deserves, and be united with her family.
Mom was born in Manocalzati, Italy to Beniamino and Ida Del Mauro. Immigrated to the USA in 1962 and embraced this country as her home. Married Biagio (our Father) Nov. 9, 1963 and was blessed with 3 children. She was an awesome cook teaching anyone who wanted to learn her traditional recipes. Made fresh pasta, bread and lots of escarole and beans and giambotta, just to name a few, all to keep her family healthy and happy. An exceptional seamstress who worked for high end Men's shops, as well as her family. Mom would sew at night so she could take care of her children during the day.
Mom was born into a farming family. She always told us stories of living on the farm and working with her father at a very young age. She loved him so much! Mom continued that farming tradition at her home in Livingston with a beautiful garden. Every Summer you could find her there happily digging the dirt, nurturing the plants and picking her vegetables. Every Summer she was happiest having her family together making the tomato sauce for the entire year. She did everything with passion, pride and Love! Mom was a tough, hardworking woman who loved her family. A true Italian!!!
