Anita Montello Obituary

Anita Ramona Montello, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2024 at the age of 87.

Anita was born on December 12", 1936 to Matilde Riso Vidal and Perfecto Vidal in Manhattan, NY. She was sibling of surviving sister Antoinette Ugaro and brother Robert Vidal(deceased). From her earliest days, it was evident that she possessed a kind and nurturing spirit that would touch the lives of all who knew and loved her. She grew up in Newark, NJ, where she was surrounded by family and friends and where she made many happy and lasting memories.

Anita's life was defined by her unwavering dedication to her loved ones.

As a mother, she poured boundless love, wisdom, and support into her children, Elena, Tracy, and Patsy. Her legacy of compassion and strength will continue to inspire them for generations to come. As a wife, she was totally devoted to the love of her life Patsy John Montello. As a grandmother, she showered her grandchildren with love and instilled many beautiful family traditions.

Anita was also a cherished friend to many. Her warmth, generosity, and infectious laughter drew people to her. Whether she was volunteering in her community, making homemade jam and other baked goods, holding yard sales, enjoying neighborhood gatherings, or simply offering a listening ear, Anita's presence had a profound impact on those around her.

Anita found joy in the simplest of pleasures, whether it was reading her favorite murder mystery books, going to a Broadway Musical, reading and writing poems, doing her word finds, trying her hand at growing her favorite flowers - roses, making homemade jam, baking cookies and bread, making special birthday dinners for her family or taking leisurely walks with her husband Pat. She approached each day with optimism.

Anita's memory will be forever treasured by her family and friends.

While we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing that she is at peace and that her spirit will live on in us all.

Anita is survived by her loving children, Elena Montello (Norfolk, VA), Tracy Montello Szewczyk, son-in-law Michael Szewczyk (Netcong, NJ), and Patsy Montello (Budd Lake, NJ), her grandchildren David Berry III, Brittany Bailey, Michael Berry, Malin Szewczyk, Abigail Montello, Matthew Montello and her great grandson Asa James Bailey.

Funeral services will be held privately.
