Forti, Angelina
It is with great sadness that the family of Angelina Forti “Angie” (née Calapa) announces her passing after a very brief illness, at the great age of 98 years. Angie was born in 1924 and as a member of the “greatest generation”, devoted herself to her family.
Angie will be continuously and lovingly remembered by her four children, Paul, Johnny, Dave, and Donna (Attanasio) as well as her daughters-in-law Carol Tyson and Lynda Forti and son-in-law Rick Attanasio, all of whom she always welcomed as part of her family like one of her own. Angie will also be lovingly and affectionately remembered by her eight grandchildren: Paul (& wife Nichole), Carrie (& husband Brian Fox), Marisa (& husband Rod Marriott), Laura (& husband John Mirabella), Tom, Eric Attanasio (& wife Liz), Alyssa Attanasio (& fiancé Joe Natale), and Nick Attanasio, her 10 great grandchildren, Sophia, Kyle, Riley, Kate, Mia, Luke, Beckett, Zoe, Mason, and Matthew.
Angie was born in Barnesboro, PA, moving early in her life to New Brunswick, NJ. Angie met her lifelong love, best friend and husband, John Forti, at New Brunswick High School. John always told the story of them meeting, declaring that it was love at first sight. John recalled walking down the street with a friend and saying to him as he saw Angie walking on the other side of the street - “I am going to marry that girl” - and he did just that! In January of 1944, John and Angie were married.
Angie enjoyed spending time with her large family, but most of all loved spending time with her husband John including that daily afternoon vodka cocktail. Angie and John were blessed with good health and happiness which allowed them to take many cruises/trips and enjoy many unforgettable times at their summer retreat in Ocean City NJ which was always a gathering place for family. Angie and John were fortunate to enjoy 75 years of marriage.
The past few years, sad & lonely, without her husband, John, but still had the enjoyment in her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren visits. Angie finished her last year in Delaware “At the Shore” near her daughter and son in law Donna and Rick Attanasio. Angie’s final wish to “Go Home” is fulfilled.
