With deep sadness, the Cascino family (of East Hanover, N.J.) announces the peaceful passing of their loving mother and devoted grandmother, Angela Marie "Ducky" Cascino (Patella). Angela passed away at her home in East Hanover, surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 13, 2024. After 94 years of unyielding love and devotion to her loved ones here on earth, Angela has now returned home to those who have patiently waited to see her again, including her loving husband, Salvatore F. "Cashy" Cascino, and beloved son, Kenneth A. Cascino.
Angela was born on December 25, 1929, to Joseph and Antionette Patella. She was raised along with her beloved siblings, Loretta, James, Joseph (pre-deceased), and Joyce, in Jersey City—a defining location in her formative years. There, she attended school and eventually met and married her husband, Salvatore F. Cascino. Angela moved with her husband and children to Irvington, N.J., where she worked as a dedicated municipal clerk for the entirety of her career.
While Angela took great pride in her work, she valued her role as matriarch of the Cascino family most in life. Angela lovingly raised her sons Joseph F. Cascino and Kenneth A. Cascino (pre-deceased) and her grandchildren Krystle, Nicole, and Salvatore Cascino. She loved her grandchildren more than anything, including Kenneth Jr. and Angela Cascino. She enjoyed taking them to school and the Chatham pool in the summertime, cheering them on at all their dance competitions, school events, and grandson's football games. Her grand pup Molly always made her smile and brought her great joy towards the end of her life.
Angela enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, like reading James Patterson novels, watching her "program" Murder She Wrote, and listening to the music of Neil Diamond and Tony Bennett. One of her favorite pastimes - driving her grandchildren to school while singing along to Bette Middler. She loved a good game of gin rummy, often winning at family gatherings and in her card circles. Angela also had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed seeing the world with her best friend and travel partner, Mitzy, and going to some of her favorite destinations, like Hawaii. She was a dedicated parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church in East Hanover and a regular proud member of the Madison YMCA for 14 years.
Angela is survived by her son Joseph, grandchildren, daughter-in-law Patricia Cascino, brother James Patella (wife Doris), sister Joyce Kehoe (husband Bill and daughter Joy) brother-in-law Bill Kehoe, niece Joy, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and caregivers.
