Adeline Lombardi, 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at her home in Florham Park, New Jersey.
Adeline was born in Newark, New Jersey to Luigi and Pasqualina Vinciguerra on December 10, 1928. She married her high school sweetheart, Matthew Lombardi, in 1949. Together, they raised three children - Matthew, Diane and Robert - first living in Newark, then Maplewood, and finally Chatham Township.
In 1971, she began an impressive teaching career that spanned over 35 years - most of it at Central Elementary School in East Hanover, where she taught fifth grade. There, she made some of her closest friends and positively impacted countless lives.
Addie was a kind and caring wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. She was also a fierce competitor, as evidenced during a game of Mahjongg, Canasta, or Scrabble. She spent her retirement years traveling the world with her family. Addie was well known for hosting her summer pool parties in Chatham with family and close friends.
Adeline is predeceased by her husband Matthew, her sister Marie, and her parents Luigi and Pasqualina. She is survived by her children Matthew Jr, Diane and Robert, her grandchildren Matthew, Robbie and Samantha and her great-grandchildren Connor, Savanna, Nathan and Natalie.
