Thomas A
Dennison
d. Dec 21, 2025
Dr. Thomas "Tom" Dennison passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025, surrounded by family after a courageous decades-long battle with multiple sclerosis. He met life's challenges with grace, humor, and a kindness that never left him, even in his hardest moments.
Tom went to Johns Hopkins and NYU Dental, and practiced dentistry in Brooklyn. He served as an assistant professor of surgery at Brookdale Hospital and as an attending in oral surgery, and was an early forerunner in the field of dental implants. His professional accomplishments aside, he was perhaps best known by his patients for his warm bedside manner that soothed and won over even the biggest of the self-described "chickens."
Everyone who met Tom spoke of his warmth, optimism, and steady cheer. He lived by what he jokingly called "the 11th Commandment: don't sweat the small stuff," and when asked how he was doing, his answer was almost always the same: "Can't complain, kid." He touched countless lives with his goodness, humility, and generosity of spirit, leaving people better simply for having known him. He will be remembered for his kindness, intelligence, unwavering optimism, and the deep love he shared with his family.
He was the beloved husband of 59 years to Elizabeth (Taylor) Dennison, the great love of his life. He was a devoted father to Gregory and Andrea, father-in-law to Kim Dennison and Peter Johnson, and a cherished Pop Pop to his granddaughters Julie, Charlotte, and Lizzi (James). He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Thomas was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Frida Dennison, step-mother Margaret Dennison, and his brother, Dr. Gary Dennison (Patti).
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 18th at 11 am at Calvary Presbyterian Church in Florham Park, NJ.
