Serafina (Savignano) Valvano, formerly of Orange, NJ, passed away peacefully on her 95th birthday on February 1, 2022.  Serafina was born in Pescopagano, Italy and moved to the US in 1950.  She married her husband Gennaro, started her family, and opened Serafina's Italian Specialties in Orange, NJ.  She was dedicated, compassionate, loving, and loyal in all of her roles as a daughter, wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend.  To know her was to love her.  Everyone will remember being greeted by her engaging smile.

Devoted mother of Maria Clayton, her husband James, Nanette Cherichello, her husband Frank, Michele Doyle and her husband Dennis.  Cherished grandmother of James, Sera, Genna, John, Matthew, Daniel and Michele.  Proud great-grandmother of Serafina, Rosemary, Cameron, Raymond and Ilium.  She was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband Gennaro "Jerry" Valvano of 63 years, her parents Michael and Antonia, and her siblings Pasquale, Andrea, Giuseppina and Rosetta.

The funeral mass will be held on Monday, February 7th at Holy Family Church in Florham Park at 10:30am, followed by the entombment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
