Ronald
Rafanello
d. Jun 17, 2026
Ronald J. Rafanello, 82, of Morris Township, formerly of Whippany and originally of Newark, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
From his early days at Barringer High School in Newark, Ron was a bright light to all who knew him, always ready with a smile, a joke, or words of encouragement. A talented baseball player, he developed a lifelong passion for athletics and took great joy in helping young people grow both on and off the field. As a teacher and coach, he inspired countless children to become better athletes, teammates, and individuals.
While working as a physical education teacher, Ron founded R&R Maintenance in 1977. Through hard work, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to service, he built the company into one of the area's most respected businesses. Despite the demands of entrepreneurship, his greatest pride was always his family. An engaged and devoted father, he coached many of his sons' teams and was a constant source of guidance, support, and encouragement. He also generously gave his time to his community, helping establish and lead numerous programs that benefited local families and children.
Ron shared a remarkable love story with his beloved wife, Linda. The two met through a wrong phone number while both happened to live in East Hanover. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, a milestone that reflected a lifetime of love, friendship, and devotion.
Ron was the beloved husband of 50 years to Linda Elizabeth Marie (Prospero) Rafanello; proud father of "his two boys," Anthony and Nick Rafanello, and cherished father-in-law to Kate and Nicole. He was a devoted grandfather to Samantha, Daniel, Antonino, Delia, and Rocco, each of whom brought him immeasurable pride and joy.
Ron was predeceased by his parents, Nancy and Tom Rafanello, and his younger brother, Anthony Rafanello.
His kindness, optimism, generosity, and unwavering belief in others will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
