Obituary

Michael A. Pico, 80, of East Hanover, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 27, 2021.

Michael married the love of his life Catherine over 56 years ago, with whom they raised two boys in Florham Park.  He took great pride in teaching them about how to treat people with respect, keep the atmosphere bright with his sense of humor and thoroughly enjoyed passing down his love of sports.  Michael was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan who loved to talk about his teams with his grandchildren.  Above all, Michael's main passion was his wife, Catherine who were hand in hand to the very end.  Michael spent over 35 years in the US Postal System in Florham Park, and later in retirement, many enjoyed his sense of humor and love for socializing at a media company in Fairfield, where he had the bonus of working with his younger son.  Later in life Michael took great pride in his four grandchildren.  He could always be found at one of their school or sporting events or on the phone with them discussing the prior nights Yankee game.  Never one to show pain or fear, he fought his battle to his last breath with pride and dignity.  A kind and simple soul who left the world a better place.

Beloved husband of 56 years to Catherine A. Pico.  Devoted father of Michael S. Pico, his wife Kristine, Darren Pico and his wife Valerie.  Cherished grandfather of Ryan, Justin, Dominic and Deanna.  Dear brother of Carmella Pico and Ann Hampson.  Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Michael is pre-deceased by his parents Giuseppe and Mary Pico and his sister Rosalie Cummings.

Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Tuesday from 4-7pm.  Funeral on Wednesday assembling at the funeral home at 8:45am followed by the funeral mass at St. Rose of Lima Church in East Hanover at 9:45am.  Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
