Karen E
Oakley
d. Dec 6, 2023
Karen E. Oakley, 57, of Whippany, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2023.
Karen was a unique and strong-willed individual who never let her disability deter her from anything. Instead, she truly embraced it and taught those around her the ways that she could experience the same things in life that everyone else was able to, just in a slightly different way. She was a true inspiration to a lot of people, constantly defying odds and never accepting help with things that she believed she could handle on her own.
Karen had an infectious personality that was full of genuine friendliness and compassion. Others were drawn towards her due to this bubbly personality as well as the amazement of all that she accomplished. Even when everything in life tried to hold her back, Karen still persevered and chased her goals and dreams. Karen never stopped fighting and she taught everyone around her to do the same.
Beloved daughter of Ida Oakley. Loving sister of Cindy Banta, her husband Donald, James Oakley, his wife Carmela, Cathy Boyadjis and her husband Paul. Cherished aunt of Allison, Andrea and Donald, Matthew and Michael, James, Sara and Christina. Great-aunt of Kayla, Ryan, Lauren, Emily, Matthew and Alaina. She treated and thought of her nieces and nephews as her very own. She was also survived by her long-time companion Tim Morrone.
Karen was pre-deceased by her father James Oakley.
Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Monday from 12-1pm, followed by a prayer service at the funeral home at 1pm. Interment at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover.
