Obituary

Julia McEnerny Sabatos, "Julie", 84, of Florham Park, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026.

Julie was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she attended Academy of the Sacred Heart from grade school through high school. She embraced her childhood as a southern belle, even serving on a Mardi Gras court. College took her up north where she attended Rosemont College in Pennsylvania. While she played numerous sports throughout her life, it was here that she and her sister "Bitsy" teamed up to win the badminton championship. Upon graduating with a degree in mathematics, she began her career at AT&T in White Plains, New York.

Julie married in 1964 and settled in Florham Park, New Jersey to raise her family. It was here she called home for the remainder of her life. She spent her childrens' early years as a full-time mom. Julie formed lifelong friendships in town, many of which were part of her bridge group that spanned over 50 years. Julie remarried in 1981 and she and Gary continued raising their blended family in town together. Julie and Gary enjoyed many years vacationing in LBI, Stone Harbor and Longboat Key, Florida, where she embraced being a sun goddess.

Julie reentered the workforce as a computer programmer for Chubb in Warren, New Jersey having finished in the top of her class at the Chubb Institute. After spending 18 years at the company, she embraced a new chapter as the office administrator at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Chatham, New Jersey. This was a fitting role for her as Julie was a person of deep faith and a devout Catholic. She was a long time parishoner at Holy Family Church in Florham Park.

Julie will be forever remembered for her magnetic smile and her graciousness. She enjoyed tennis and cheering on her New Orleans Saints. She was a baker of delightful Christmas cookies and treated us with her signature ballerina twirls and "musical hugs" frequently.

Beloved wife of 45 years to Gary Sabatos.  Devoted mother of Julie Blondell, her husband Thom, Corinne Brogan, Lauren Brogan, Sharon Kissell and her husband Jeff.  Loving step-mother of Sherri Trautman, her husband Ted, Denise DiTizii, her husband Steve, Matthew Sabatos and his wife Stacey.  Cherished grandmother of Brogan and Brigitte, Casey, Kevin and Jake, Grace, Caroline and Christopher, Michelle and Jennifer, Damon and Ava, Justin and Ruby.  Dear sister of Mary Clare Siegel and her husband Ken.  Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Julie was pre-deceased by her son Peter Brogan, her parents Will and Lillian McEnerny, and her sister Bedley Byers.
