Josephine "Jay" Mercadante (nee: Renna), 92, passed away peacefully at her home in East Hanover on May 10, 2021.

She was born November 16, 1928 in Orange to Louis and Chancey Renna. A graduate of Orange High School, Josephine then went to work at the Prudential. It was here where she would meet a group of lifelong friends. In 1951, she married Dominic (Sonny) Mercadante and moved to South Orange before finally settling in East Hanover. They were lovingly married for 50 years. They loved traveling, seeing shows, and weekend trips to the shore. Jay enjoyed Saturday lunch dates with her granddaughters.

Josephine was predeceased by her husband, parents, and one sister Matilda (Mithie).

She is survived by two sons; Steve, his wife Karen, Mark and wife Kim, 4 grandchildren; Chris, Stefanie Perretti, her husband Frank, Dominique, Samantha, and one great-grandson, Frank. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Funeral services to be held privately to the family.  The Entombment to be held at the Gate of Heaven Mausoleum in East Hanover.
