Josephine
Lomazzo
d. Jul 8, 2026
Josephine ("Jo") Lomazzo of Basking Ridge passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Morristown Medical Center. She was 99.
Born on March 19, 1927, in Newark, she was the youngest of seven children of James and Mildred Pallitto. Josephine was predeceased by her two sisters and four brothers.
After high school, she worked for New Jersey Bell Telephone and Prudential, both in Newark. After getting married, she and her husband moved to South Orange and later Maplewood, where she raised her two children, Rosemary and Tom. She worked at and helped build the family business, Village Awning and Shade Company in South Orange.
Josephine was a wonderful mother and created a loving home. She enjoyed reading to her children from when they were babies, playing games with them, and being involved in their school activities. When her children were grown, she moved to Toms River to live in the same community where her son lives now, and where she had her two sisters and their husbands as neighbors. During those years, she was active in the social activities at the community and even held a part-time job at Easterseals. She especially enjoyed the bus trips to the Atlantic City casinos.
In her later years, she moved back up north to senior communities, first in Bedminster, then to Basking Ridge, and ultimately came to live with her daughter at her Basking Ridge home. She was a member of the Bedminster Senior Citizens Club.
Josephine enjoyed reading, playing cards, doing word search puzzles, and watching her favorite TV programs and listening to music. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children.
Josephine is survived by her daughter Rosemary of Basking Ridge and son Tom of Toms River.
Services were private for her children and handled by Leonardis Memorial Home in Florham Park.
