Obituary

John M. Macko, 75, of Morris Township, formerly of Westfield and Bayonne, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2023.

John enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family. His devotion to his faith and his tremendous life journey with his wife Virginia has set a wonderful example of dedication, love, spirituality, and appreciation for life's little moments. Known for being gracious and caring he touched everyone he knew with his kindness, smiles, and sense of humor. John was proud of his heritage and enjoyed telling stories of his childhood. While raising his children in Westfield he was an active coach to John and Ann in youth sports and supported them in all they did. He also loved being at the beach, embracing the peace it offered him. John graduated from Marist High School in Bayonne, and earned his Bachelors in Civil Engineering and Masters in Environmental Engineering, both from New Jersey Institute of Technology. He held positions at SeaLand and Port Authority of NY/NJ. He loved to tinker around the house, working with wood and dreaming of building a wooden boat one day. He will be missed every day and celebrated as a blessing in the lives of everyone who knew him.

Beloved husband of 52 years to Virginia (Greenan) Macko.  Devoted father of John Macko, his wife Annie, and Ann Macko-Loftus.  Cherished grandfather of Timothy, Avery and James Macko, Colin, Elizabeth and Caitlin Loftus.  Dear brother of Margaret Meyers and her husband Charles.  Also survived by many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

John was pre-deceased by his parents John and Alice Macko.
