Joe
Fiore
d. Jan 3, 2023
Joe Fiore, 92, of Madison, NJ, formerly of Brooklyn, NY, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2023.
Joe graduated from Automotive High School hoping to be an automotive design mechanic. However, he was drafted into the Army and served in Korea during the Korean Conflict. Joe attained the rank of Master Sergeant and was placed in charge of five army tanks, seeing a lot of front-line action. He also loved to cook and when he wasn't in a tank he cooked for his fellow soldiers and was proud to have prepared meals for the company General, who routinely requested his cooking. Until his death, Joe was very proud to have served his country and loved to share that experience with others.
Returning home, Joe began working at the New York City Transit Authority. This turned into a 41-year career.
His favorite activities were doing word puzzles, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune every night and buying and winning at Lottery scratch-off tickets. Joe had a wonderful sense of humor and was a kind and caring person. He was very sociable and loved to meet and greet people with whom he quickly became friends. Joe had a kind heart and was always grateful for what he had, and was always willing to share. He will be missed.
Devoted father of Peter Fiore and his wife Toni, Nicholas Fiore and his wife Deborah. Cherished grandfather of Joseph Fiore, his wife Dawn, Michelle Middleton, her husband Brendan, Alicia Mirra, her husband Will, Nicole Marie Fiore, Gregory Fiore, his wife Carmela, Denise Domingues, her husband Rafael, and Melissa McGoff and her husband Thomas. Proud great-grandfather of Sophia, Marie, Leonardo, Emily, Charlotte Ann, and Antonio Michael. Dear brother of Genevieve Ianno. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Joe was predeceased by his wife Millie of 72 years, his great-granddaughter, Claudia Fiore, his parents Peter and Rosalie Fiore, and siblings Nettie Olivares and Peter Fiore.
The funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Church in Florham Park on Friday at 11:30am, immediately followed by the entombment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
