Gregorio
Russo
d. Aug 17, 2026
Gregorio Russo, 84, of Manahawkin, formerly of West Orange, passed away peacefully at his home on August 17, 2026.
Gregorio was born in Calabria, Italy, and came to the United States as a teenager. He eventually settled in West Orange, where he and Rosa raised their family. Proud of his Italian heritage, he carried the culture and traditions with him throughout his life and passed them along to his children and grandchildren.
Self-employed for much of his life, Gregorio believed in working hard, providing for his family, and building a better life for them here in the U.S. He was an old-school family man with a dry sense of humor, known for laughing at his own favorite jokes and one-liners that never seemed to get old—at least to him.
Above all, family was the most important part of his life. The traditions, values, stories, and memories he leaves behind will continue through his children and grandchildren.
Beloved husband of 57 years to Rosa (Palmieri) Russo. Devoted father of Gregory Russo, his wife Elizabeth, Michael Russo, his wife Kristi, Leonardo Russo, his wife Stacy, Rosanna DePasquale and her husband Justin. Cherished grandfather of Gianni, Sofia, Valentino and Leandro, Daniella, her husband Thomas, and Julia, Santino and Rocco, Marco, Lucas, Siena and Mateo. Dear brother of Frank, his wife Vincenza, Mike, his wife Cathy, Elena and her husband Tony. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral on Friday, August 21st assembling at the funeral home at 8:45am, followed by the funeral mass at St. Rose of Lima Church in East Hanover at 9:45am. Entombment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
