Obituary

George Mitro, 81, long-time resident of Madison, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2023.

George was born in Czechoslovakia and came to the United States in 1967. He began his career as an electrician working for the family business for a few years. He then went on to work for the CR Bard pharmaceutical company for many years, as a Maintenance Electrician, until he retired. He loved Polka music, dancing, and he enjoyed good food.

Beloved brother of John Mitro, his wife Eva, Margita Geles, Alzbeta Pecenakova and Elena Kicakova.  Also survived by his good friend Marta Knight, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

George was pre-deceased by his parents Juraj and Maria (Rinik) Mitro, and his sisters Maria Kazimirova and Anna Osifova.

Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Wednesday from 3-6pm, including a prayer service at 3:30pm.  Funeral on Thursday, assembling at the funeral home at 8:30am, followed by the funeral divine liturgy at St. George Byzantine Catholic Church in Linden at 10am.  Interment at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
