Abruzzese
d. Jun 5, 2026
Elvira D. Abruzzese, 86, of Florham Park, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026.
Elvira Abruzzese was born and raised in Newark, N.J. where she attended Our Lady of Good Counsel, Westside High School, and The Berkley School. From there, she began working for Hannoch Weisman, Stern and Besser as a legal secretary and then paralegal. She switched careers and worked for The Career Center and then returned to the legal field working again for Hannoch Weisman and other law firms including Bressler, Amery & Ross. She also attended Fairleigh Dickinson University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in English.
In addition to a busy work life, Elvira was an avid and accomplished skier, traveling all over the country and world. She was president of the Watchung Ski Club and organized many trips for the group, making lifelong friends in the process. She began a local book club called the Happy Bookers and taught CCD, which was a fitting role for her as Elvira was a person of deep faith and a devout Catholic. She was a long-time parishioner at Holy Family Church in Florham Park.
Elvira will forever be remembered for her warmth, friendliness and generosity towards everyone. She enjoyed tennis, knitting, photography and going to the beach. She also particularly loved baking, frequently sharing freshly baked biscotti and trail mix with everyone.
