Elba Hernandez, "Elsie", 89, formerly of the Bronx, NY, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026.
Elsie will be remembered for her generous heart, strong spirit, and unwavering love for her family.
She had a gift for sewing and embroidery and took great pride in creating things with her hands, especially for her doll collection. An excellent cook, she was especially known for her delicious empanadas and sorullitos, which brought family and friends together around the table. Elsie was always helping others and was passionate about collecting clothing and other items to donate to those in need. She loved music and could often be found enjoying rancheras, Christian music, Marc Anthony, and Juan Gabriel. Her kindness, warmth, and caring nature touched many lives, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Devoted mother of Millie Perfetto and the late Evelyn Hernandez. Cherished mother-in-law of Joseph Perfetto. Beloved grandmother of Jonathan Ramos, Jeremy Rosario, Shelly DeBari, Michelle Cruz, Kayla Perfetto, and the late Benjamin Rosario. Proud great-grandmother of Brianna, Giselle, Ariela, Leonardo, Vivian, Remi, Santino, Amelia, Dante, Éponine, and the late Penelope. Dear sister of Candido Adames and Luz Sabo. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Elsie was predeceased by her parents, Natalio and Eulalia Adames; her daughter, Evelyn Hernandez; her grandson, Benjamin Rosario; her great-granddaughter, Penelope; and her siblings Eva, Olga, Elba, and Andres.
Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home, Inc., 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Wednesday, June 10th from 4-7pm. Funeral on Thursday, June 11th, assembling at the funeral home at 8:45am, followed by the funeral mass at St. Rose of Lima Church in East Hanover at 9:45am. Interment at St. Raymond's Cemetery in Bronx, NY.
