David Cord Voehl, 86, of Morris Township, New Jersey, passed away on August 2, 2026. A longtime resident of Montville Township, David was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and friend, whose kindness and selflessness will be deeply missed.
David grew up in Hewlett, New York; the son of the late William Cord and Ruth Vera Voehl and the brother of the late Audrey McCoskey. He earned his bachelor's degree and MBA from Fordham University. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, he was stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he first began working with computers. Following his military service, David was employed with IBM's Service Bureau Corporation in New York City, where he met the love of his life, Mary. Together for over 55 years, they built a wonderful life centered on their family and community. David also enjoyed a successful career, culminating in his role as Vice President of Payroll Operations at ADP.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, David prioritized giving back to his community. As a teen and young adult, he was a volunteer firefighter for his hometown. Later, he served as President of the Montville Township Board of Health, was a member of the Montville Township Adult School Board, volunteered many hours at his children's schools, and most recently served as Secretary and Membership Chair for the Activities Unlimited Club.
At home, he was always ready to lend a hand or a hearty hello to friends and neighbors. An avid boater, he could often be found on the water, first at Peach Lake and then for over forty years in Lavallette, New Jersey. He loved watching the New York Yankees, spending time with friends and family, telling a "Pop-Pop joke", and giving the best hugs.
Above all, David found great joy in his family, whose closeness is a lasting testament to the love and devotion he shared with them. David is survived by his beloved wife, Mary; his cherished daughters, Sally Ann, Mary Ruth, and Carolyn Marie; his treasured sons-in-laws, Caleb, Damien, and Keith; his adored grandchildren, Katherine, Andrew, Charlotte, and Danielle; and his loving extended family.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 12:00 pm at St. Thomas More Church in Convent Station, New Jersey. Interment will be conducted privately. Family and friends are invited to attend a luncheon immediately following the Mass to celebrate his life.
