Carmela Palmieri, 79, of West Orange, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at her home on August 1, 2026.

Born on January 9, 1947, in Deliceto, Italy, Carmela immigrated to the United States with her family in 1958. She made West Orange her home for the past 53 years, where she built a life filled with lasting friendships, generosity, and cherished memories.

Carmela is lovingly survived by her brother, Vincent Palmieri, his wife, Marie, their son, Gerard, and his wife, Monica, along with their children, Gerard, Mia, and Philomena. She is also survived by her brother, Ralph and his wife Maria and their daughters Patti, and her husband Wayne, MaryAnne, and her husband John, Angela, and her husband  Paul and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Although Carmela never had children of her own, she was like family to so many. She leaves behind a multitude of dear friends whose lives she touched with her kindness, warmth, and unwavering generosity. Among them are Vivian and her daughters, Kezia and Kayla, as well as Darrin, Jan, Michelle, and many other treasured friends who will forever remember her love and friendship.

Carmela will be remembered as an extraordinary sister, loyal friend, and gracious host. She had a remarkable gift for bringing people together through her exceptional cooking, hospitality, and genuine love for celebrating life's special moments. Her home was always open, her table always welcoming, and her generous spirit made everyone feel like family. Her kindness, laughter, and caring heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A committal prayer service and entombment will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery Mausoleum in East Hanover, New Jersey.
