Obituary

Anne L. Sommer, 90, long time resident of Florham Park, NJ, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2020.

Anne was born and grew up in Irvington New Jersey. She attended Irvington High School where she was a member of the color guard. One of her proudest moments was performing at half time for the New York Giants football team. Upon graduating, she worked at Mutual Benefit Life Insurance in Newark. She married James Sommer in 1951. Soon after, they built a home in Florham Park where Anne resided the rest of her life.

Anne's cherished dream was to have a large family who would have many occasions to celebrate and be together. That dream came true for her. Anne and Jim had a full house at every holiday with much laughter, delicious meals and many happy times. The family spent summers in Barnegat Light enjoying the beautiful beach, fishing and picnicking on the patio.

Active in her community, Anne was a member of the Florham Park Historical Society and AARP Florham Park Chapter. Anne made many friends throughout her life. She had a quick wit and a strong spirit; never letting life's setbacks slow her down.  Anne was always grateful for her many blessings of faith, family and friends.

Beloved wife of the late James Sommer.  Devoted mother of Barbara Sommer, her husband Robert Delitto, Janet Akeson, her husband John, John Sommer, his wife Nancy, the late James J.
