Robert Seaman Obituary

Robert B. Seaman
10/7/32 to 7/26/18

Robert B. Seaman “Bob” age 85, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover, NJ.  He was born at home on October 7, 1932, in Little Falls, NJ, son to the late Leon P. Seaman and Marjorie E. Lawrence, and late step father, Edward Lawrence.

Dad and Mom married in December of 1952 at the age of 20.  In 1953 he was drafted by the army during the Korean War.  He did his basic training in Trenton and then was stationed in Germany for two years.  He was honorably discharged from the army in January of 1955.  He worked at Richtex; T.W. Ice Cream and then Thomas’ Bakery as a route salesman where he remained until retirement in 1992.

Dad loved his sports and games.  He coached little league baseball, which he loved, and was a member of a bowling league at Butler Bowl for many years.  We would play horseshoes, volleyball, cards or any other game that you can think of, but he loved his cards.  He was also very creative.  He made a board game called “Cross Over the Bridge” which was like Chinese checkers, but with only two points.  He made them out of thick pressboard and personalized them for each of us with a penny that had our birth year on it.  We will cherish that always.  He was always doing something in the garage.

Dad became a Master Mason at the Masonic Temple, Silentia Lodge 168 F. & A. M. of Butler, NJ in September of 1981.

Dad and Mom moved to Florida in 1992 to Scottish Highlands and remained there for 25 years.  He did a lot during that time from performing in plays that Mom would write, produce and direct, to camping, boating, Wii bowling, shuffleboard, you name it.  Loved to be active in the community and loved his Florida friends.

He was an amazing man, father, and grandfather.  Although he was not able to spend a lot of time with them, he was able to meet both his great-granddaughter and his great-grandson.  We just wish we had more time with him.  He missed Mom terribly and is now in her loving embrace. Lots of great memories we will cherish and never forget.

Bob is survived by his beloved son, Lee R. Seaman and his partner, Susan Duda; his daughters, Linda C. Symons and her husband, Scott and Sandra L. Murphy and her husband, Ken; his 9 grandchildren – Michael, David, Matthew, Shannon, Paige, Kara, Christopher, Adam and Brooke as well as his two great grandchildren Samantha and Peyton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred “Kip” Seaman on February 15, 2018.
