It is with great sadness that the family of Robert “Flip” Flaminio announces his passing on Monday May 14, 2018, at the age of 82 years. Following his service in the army serving in the Korean War and 10 months in a POW camp, Flip had a lifelong career in law enforcement, starting with the Newark Police Department, then the Essex County Sherrifs office, the Essex County Prosecutors office and the US Department of Justice.
Flip was pre-deceased by his loving wife of 53 years, Geraldine. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Dina (Kelly) Wright and Debra (Mark) Dignazio. Flip will also be remembered by the joys of his life, his five grandchildren, Mark, Matt, Luke, Holly and Quinn. He is also fondly remembered by his brother in law Gerard LaSalle, his wife Janice, his sister Bert Oboyski and their families and dear friends Nick and Neva Rosamilia. He joins his brothers Pat and Frank in heaven.
Flip enjoyed many frustrating rounds of golf and losing hands of gin with his friends at Brooklake Country Club. His stories about horse racing and the old days “down neck” will be missed by many.
Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park on Wednesday, May 16th from 4-8pm. Funeral on Thursday assembling at 10am followed by a mass at St. Rose of Lima Church in East Hanover at 11am. Entombment at Gate of Heaven.
