Robert A. Babb, Sr., 87, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2018. Born on August 23, 1931 to Alvah and Gladys Babb, Bob is survived by Pat, his wife of 59 years, daughter Maureen, sons Robert, Jr. (Sharon) and Brian (Dena), grandchildren Nicole, Philip, Owen and Kasey; brother Herb and sister Sally McGrath, and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
A graduate of Montclair State Teachers College, Bob first taught Science in his hometown of Franklin, NJ. He then taught for 42 years in the Millburn, NJ school system, where he also coached Junior Varsity baseball and basketball for many years. He was past President of the Millburn Educators Association and the Millburn Retired Educators Association. He was also a part-time real estate agent with Weichert Realtors. A Florham Park resident for 57 years, Bob was an active parishioner at Holy Family Church, served as a coach with Florham Park Little League, and for many years was a Marshall for the Florham Park July 4th Celebration. Bob enjoyed many years camping with his family and cooking gourmet meals with his friends on Kenneth Court. In their retirement years, Bob and Pat enjoyed traveling and made many friends along the way.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at the Leonardis Memorial Home, 210 Ridgedale Ave., Florham Park on Monday, November 5th from 2pm-4pm & 7pm-9pm. Funeral on Tuesday, November 6th assembling at the funeral home at 9am followed by a mass at Holy Family Church in Florham Park at 10am. Burial will be private.
The family asks that donations be made to Holy Family Church in Florham Park or a charity of your choice. Finally, the family wishes to thank Bob’s caregivers at Chatham Hills Subacute Care Center for their kindness and compassion during the last few months of Bob’s life.
