Joseph P Befumo

Joseph P. Befumo, 78, of Hackettstown, formerly of Whippany, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2018.  

Joseph served as a US Navy Reserve from 1957-1962 in Port Newark, and active duty at U.S Air Naval Station in Patuxent River, Maryland.  He worked 34 years with Prudential Insurance Agency, retiring in 1997, and was the owner/operator of Befumo Insurance Agency.  Joseph was a former member of the Whippany Rotary Club, on the Board of Directors and current President of the Seawatch Condominium Association in North Wildwood, and was designated to the All-State baseball team in 1956.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing, the NY Yankees, trips to the shore and his grandchildren’s sporting events, especially baseball. 

Beloved husband of 56 years to Joan M. Befumo (Conlon).  Devoted father of Joseph Befumo, his wife Kelley, and Philip Befumo.  Cherished grandfather of Trevor, Erin and Shayla, Brittany, Taylor and Philip Jay.  Dear brother of Thomas Befumo, his wife Ellen, Maryann Celli and her husband Tony. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews

Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home 210 Ridgedale Ave. Florham Park on Monday from 4-8pm.  Funeral on Tuesday assembling at the funeral home at 9am followed by the funeral mass at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Whippany at 10am.  Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
