John Michael Graham, most recently a resident of Florham Park N.J, passed away on Monday, April 30 after a long illness. Born and raised in Rye, N.Y., and a longtime resident of North Yonkers N.Y., John was 83 at the time of his death.
John spent most of his career as a Senior Sales and Marketing Executive for more than 40 years in the travel industry, where he was based in Manhattan. Among other affiliations, he was employed by Air India, Four Winds Tours, Travel Agent magazine, OAG Travel Magazines. Most recently, until his retirement, he ran the travel category for advertising with Newspapers First, formally Knight Ridder Newspapers.
A proud graduate of Fordham University, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing in 1956. He was active in local sports, including basketball and baseball, and an ROTC participate ultimately graduating as Captain. He would retain his love of sports his entire life with a particular loyalty to the Fordham Rams basketball team. He was a passionate devotee of the N.Y. Yankees, N. Y. Knicks and N.Y Giants football teams. He was an active tennis player and he also enjoyed golf.
John was also a board member of the the Amackassin Tennis Club. The oldest tennis club in the United States founded in 1888 in North Yonkers.
John is survived by his wife of 59 years the former Grace Cremona of Yonkers, Their 3 children John C. Graham, Mary Doherty and Dawn Graham, and 4 grandchildren Amanda Graham, Lauren Graham, Christopher Doherty and Andrew Doherty.
Visitation will be held at the Leonardis Memorial Home, (973-377-5050), 210 Ridgedale Avenue, Florham Park, N.J on Friday, May 4th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral will be on Saturday, May 5th, assembling at the funeral home at 9am followed by a mass at Holy Family Church in Florham Park at 10am. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
