Ira J. Mc Manus, 89, of Florham Park, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2017. Ira grew up in Jersey City, NJ and attended St. Peter’s Prep. and soon after met the love of his life Mary-Lou Colacurcio also from Jersey City. They married in 1952. Ira honorably served his country in the US Army during WWII where he was stationed in Korea. Ira graduated from Newark College of Engineering (NJIT) in Newark, NJ with a BS in Civil Engineering in 1951. He worked as a Structural Design Engineer with several consulting companies before becoming a Professional Engineer and starting his own structural engineering company, Ira J. McManus and Associates in 1965. His true passion was designing and developing systems to streamline building and construction. Ira registered several patents for concrete slab forming which inspired the creation of Structural Systems, Inc. He was a well-respected Structural Engineer with an honorable reputation and developed and registered a total of 14 US patents over the span of his career. In 1992, Ira co-founded McManus Design Group Inc., located in Madison, NJ, with his son, John McManus. Ira will be truly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. His positive outlook and sense of humor were a blessing and an inspiration to all. Ira adored spending time at his home with his beloved wife, children and many grandchildren. Ira showed us all what it meant to be a wonderful, faithful husband, a loving, caring father and a proud, adoring grandfather. Beloved husband of 65 years to Mary-Lou Mc Manus. Devoted father of Ira J. Mc Manus, Jr., his wife Leslie, Cindy Seneca, her husband Tom, Joseph Mc Manus, his wife Mila, Christopher Mc Manus, his wife Alice, Timothy Mc Manus, Nancy Ferrara, Michael Mc Manus, John Mc Manus, his wife Mary, Tracy Heckel, her husband Joe, Cory Sinegra and her husband Rob. Loving grandfather of 43 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of James Mc Manus. Ira is pre-deceased by his parents James and Margaret and his brother Jack.

Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home 210 Ridgedale Ave. Florham Park on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-9pm. Funeral service will be held privately to the family.
