Elizabeth Gallo-Burke “Betty”, 85, originally from county Kerry, Tarbert, Ireland. Resided in South Orange, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2018. Betty was a dedicated wife and mother who devoted her time to caring for her husband and raising her four children. Betty worked many years as a secretary with the South Orange Police Department before retiring to help care for her grandchildren. She was an active member of the Rosary Society at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. She volunteered at Our Lady of Sorrows School and parish.
Beloved wife of the late Steven Gallo and the late Jack Burke. Devoted mother of Peter Gallo, Michael Gallo, his wife Stephanie, Elizabeth “Liz” Mehl, her husband Michael, Steve Gallo and his wife Michelle. Loving grandmother of Stephen, Annemarie and Michael, Jr., Griffin, Jared and Michaela, Stephen and Ava.
Betty was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Elizabeth (O’Grady) Culhane, two sisters Josaphine “Joan” Angier and Kathleen “Kay” Burbage, and three brothers Patrick “Packie” Culhane, Thomas Culhane and John Culhane. She is survived by her sister Mary Campi-Murphy.
Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home 210 Ridgedale Ave. Florham Park on Sunday from 1-5pm. The funeral mass will be held on Monday, 10:30am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in S. Orange followed by the interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
