Alan Macdonald Obituary

Alan E. Macdonald, 65, of Cedar Knolls, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2019. 

Alan graduated from Morris Knolls High School and attended County College of Morris.  He is a US Army Veteran (NSA) during Vietnam and was stationed in Virginia.  Alan worked as a Sales Engineer with security systems for various companies, including Coskey Electronic Systems in New Brunswick and Effective Alarms in Kearny.  He was a Board member of Trinity Fellowship in East Hanover and a very active member of Full Gospel Church in Livingston.  Alan was also a Ham radio operator, and when communications were down during 911, he heroically coordinated with first responders and supply chains.  Some of Alan’s hobbies included fishing, computers, Civil War History, astronomy, botany, photography, science fiction movies and books. 

Beloved husband of Rev. Kathy Macdonald.  Dear brother of Gail Spurr, Neal Macdonald and Brian Macdonald.  Brother-in-law of Natalie Mary Miess.  Loving uncle of Kevin Macdonald, Kyle Spurr, his wife Charley, and Danielle Miess. 

A memorial service will be held at Full Gospel Church, 190 West Northfield Road, Livingston, NJ 07039 on Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 11am-12 noon.  The family will be accepting relatives and friends prior to the service from 10:30am - 11am.  In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the cost of the remaining medical expenses.
