Florence R. DeTrolio, 98, of Whippany, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, on April 25, 2024.
As the daughter of a seamstress who owned a sewing shop, at only 5 years old, her mother taught her how to sew the buttons onto dresses to help with the family business. By the time Florence was 10, she was the family cook. She was smart, intelligent and knowledgeable, despite only having a grammar school education. A fabulous cook and baker, she served incredible holiday feasts for her family and relatives.
For 93 continuous years, Florence has been selflessly in service to her family. She had a great sense of humor and was always ready with a witty comeback, most times in our beloved Sicilian language.
She was always up for playing with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially Italian card games.
Her life has left and will always leave an impact on all who knew and loved her.
Devoted mother of David DeTrolio, his wife Nancie, Elissa True, her husband Michael, Arnold DeTrolio, his wife Olga, Paul DeTrolio and his wife Linda.
