I worked with Pete for many years at both Pan Am and the FAA. Like him I was also in the Marines and although we spent time at the same base, I did not meet him until we were both at Pan Am. Pete was a good friend and I am saddened to learn of his passing as I know will be many others that knew him. God bless you all.

My deepest sympathy and prayers to the Marotte family.
I was lucky to have had the pleasure to meet and work for Pete when I was a young AMT just starting my career at Pan Am. Pete had transferred from JFK Tech Crew to become our foreman on the midnight shift at the Pan Am Shuttle at LGA. Pete was a dedicated family man who was great with kids, which was a good thing because he was in charge of a bunch of us kids on the midnight shift at LGA . Pete was the type of person who never hesitated to help anybody in need. If you had any problems, work related or personal he would do what ever he could to help. I always enjoyed listening to Pete tell funny and sometimes crazy stories about things he had seen or experience though out his career at Pan Am.
I don't know why, but one of the many great and funny things I remember about Pete and probably anyone else who knew him, was that every year on Nov 10 he would come to work and ask us " do you know what today is? " We would look at each other and say "no". Then Pete would say "It's the Marine Corps Birthday".
I remember the day we found out Pete was leaving Pan Am to go work for the FAA. We were happy for him but also sad that a good friend was leaving. Several years later I left NY. Even though I haven't spoken to Pete much over the years I could count on receiving a Christmas card from him and his family and every year since we met approx. 30 year ago. I am grateful to have had the opportunity and pleasure to have known him and to have had him as a friend. I am glad I was able to attend his FAA retirement party and had the chance to see and talk to him again. You will be greatly missed.
God Bless You and Rest in Peace Pete.

Aunt Sandra, Rosemarie & Michelle,
We are truly sorry for your (our) loss. We were all lucky to know and love him. That impish Marotte sense of humor served him well and made him a joy to be around. Fun times clung to him and he stayed as long as he could; but Christmas in heaven proved to be to hard to refuse. So surely this man who helped everyone is enjoying his just reward. We are sad that he had to leave us but happy for him because he is with so many friends and family. The peacemaker of the family has come to join the fun. So in heaven as the festivities begin the life of the party has arrived. Dance with the angels, Uncle Pete you left us much to soon. We will always remember and carry you in our hearts.
Love always,
Lynn & Paul

Dear Marotte Family,
Please accept my deepest syspathy on Peters death. I worked with Peter for many years at PAA and he was a pleasure to work with and be around , He had a certain calm about him which we all appreciated. Peter and I attended the Pan Am reunion several years ago and Peter drove us there. I was thinking about calling him to tell him that we moved to Barnegat and that we could get together for lunch etc. I am really shocked to hear of his death. May God bless him and may God grant him peace on his journey home.
