Florence A. Salerno (Leonardis), 88, of Manalapan, formerly of the Vailsburg section of Newark and S. Orange, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 3, 2018.
Florence was born in Newark to Charles and Mamie Leonardis in 1929. She worked many years as a Health and Physical Education Teacher at Vailsburg High School in Newark before retiring. She then worked several years at Lord & Taylor. Florence was active with the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Beloved wife of the late Anthony Salerno. Devoted mother of Nicholas Salerno, his wife Joann, Anthony Salerno, his wife Diane, Nina Marinello and her husband Ralph. Cherished grandmother of Anthony R. Salerno, Ralph A. Marinello, Jake Salerno, Gabrielle Salerno, Rebecca Salerno and Anessa Marinello. Also survived by her dear sister Theresa “Terry” Turck and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation at the Leonardis Memorial Home 210 Ridgedale Ave. Florham Park on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Funeral on Saturday assembling at the funeral home at 9am followed by a mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in S. Orange at 10:30am. Interment at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Montclair.
